Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, crucial for brain development and eye health. They also provide protein for growth, fiber for digestive regularity, and magnesium, important for bone health.

Good to know

Never offer whole or chopped nuts before age 5 — they are one of the most common choking hazards. Serve finely ground, or as a smooth nut butter thinned with water, breast milk or formula.

Walnuts are a common allergen. When introducing, offer a tiny amount alone and watch for any allergic reactions for several days. Never offer whole nuts or large pieces to babies due to a severe choking risk. Whole and chopped nuts stay a choking hazard until age 5, so keep serving them finely ground or as a smooth, thinned butter.

Tip

Store walnuts in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer to keep them fresh and prevent them from going rancid.
