Sun-dried Apricot
Sun-dried apricots can be introduced around 6 months when rehydrated and pureed, or as finger food when soft enough after 9 months.
How to serve
Soak until soft and puree, or chop very finely.
Offer small, soft pieces of rehydrated apricots.
Serve chopped or sliced as snacks.
Nutrition
Excellent source of iron, potassium, and vitamin A. High in fiber. Contains antioxidants.
Good to know
Very chewy and sticky. Soak until soft and chop finely, or puree.
Dried fruit is a choking hazard - rehydrate by soaking in warm water. High in natural sugars - serve in moderation. The bright orange colour of most dried apricots comes from sulphites, one of the 14 EU-declared allergens. Unsulphured apricots are brown and just as good - worth choosing if your child has asthma, which sulphites can aggravate.
Tip
Choose unsulfured dried apricots (brown color) to avoid sulfites. Soak for at least 15 minutes in warm water.
