Cheddar Cheese
Cheddar cheese can be introduced around 6-9 months. It's a good source of protein and calcium.
How to serve
Offer thin strips or grated cheese.
Serve shredded or in thin strips - not cubes.
Include in various dishes or as snacks.
Nutrition
Excellent source of calcium and protein. Contains vitamin A, B12, and phosphorus. High in saturated fat.
Good to know
Shred finely or cut into thin strips — never cubes or chunks. Cheese cubes and sticks are a choking hazard until age 4.
Dairy is a common allergen. Choose mild cheddar for younger babies. Watch sodium content - some cheddars are very salty. Cut food no larger than 1 cm (about half an inch), and keep round, hard or slippery foods quartered lengthways until age 4.
Contains: dairy
Tip
Aged cheddar has stronger flavor but also more sodium. Mild cheddar is better for babies.
