Week 9 · 1st trimesterFirst-trimester exhaustion + we saw the baby

Heartbeat heard, consultant found

The highlight of week 9 is definitely the pure exhaustion. I'm so incredibly tired that I feel like I could fall asleep right at my desk while working :) I keep nodding off at random hours around the house, and keeping my eyes open past 8 PM is nearly impossible. I guess I'm lucky it's winter; the days are short, and there isn't much to do in the evenings anyway except sleep.

The best news from last week is that we finally saw our tiny baby on the ultrasound and even heard the heartbeat! It doesn't quite look like a baby yet, but experiencing those feelings for the second time is still so exciting, even with a bit of experience under my belt. I absolutely loved the doctor at the clinic, and luckily, he will actually be in Ireland around my due date. We agreed that he will be my consultant, so I'm officially moving forward with private care under him. Our next appointment is in three weeks—hopefully, I won't sleep through all of it! He recommended some vitamins and reminded me to eat well. This time around, I really want to be stricter with my nutrition. I want to plan meals that genuinely support the baby's development rather than just causing unnecessary weight gain.
