How much…? Limits
How Much Tuna Can I Eat When Pregnant?
You can eat up to about 2 servings of canned light tuna per week in pregnancy; limit fresh tuna steak and albacore ("white") tuna because they're higher in mercury. Tuna is fine — it's about quantity.
Mercury builds up in bigger, longer-living fish and can affect baby's developing nervous system. Canned light tuna is a lower-mercury choice.
Canned light tuna: ~2 servings/week.
Fresh tuna steak / albacore: ~1 serving/week or less.
Always cooked or canned, never raw.
