Can I Eat Sushi When Pregnant?
Cooked sushi is safe during pregnancy — avoid raw fish, but you can enjoy cooked rolls, vegetable rolls, and California rolls. The concern with sushi is raw fish, not sushi itself.
Raw fish can carry parasites and bacteria (like listeria), which is why it's off the menu for now. But a huge amount of sushi is cooked or vegetarian and perfectly fine.
Cooked rolls (cooked eel, cooked prawn/ebi, tempura), veggie rolls, avocado rolls, cooked California rolls.
Raw fish: sashimi, raw tuna/salmon nigiri, raw rolls.
Check imitation crab is cooked (it usually is) and the roll has no raw fish.
You still get the enjoyment — just choose the cooked side of the menu.
