Can I Drink Matcha When Pregnant?

Yes — you can drink matcha in moderation during pregnancy, but count its caffeine toward your 200 mg daily limit. Matcha is more concentrated than regular green tea.

Because matcha is powdered whole tea leaf, a serving can contain roughly 60–70 mg of caffeine — more than a cup of brewed green tea. It also contains compounds that can slightly reduce folate/iron absorption, so don't overdo it.

One matcha a day is generally fine within your 200 mg caffeine budget.
Remember to add it to any coffee/tea/cola you're also having.
Take iron-rich meals and matcha a little apart.
