This Privacy Policy explains what personal data the Avo family of parenting apps collects, why, and what rights you have over it. It replaces the separate privacy policies that previously applied to each app individually.
Data controller. Avo Parenting, a sole trader based in Istanbul, Türkiye, is the controller of the personal data described here. We will confirm the registered legal identity behind Avo Parenting on request — just email us.

1. Which apps and sites this policy covers
- Avo — Pregnancy & Food Tracker ("Avo Pregnancy")
- Safely: Baby Start Solids BLW ("Avo Starting Solids")
- Avo Baby Tracker
- Avo Studio: Baby Photo Editor ("Avo Studio")
- The website at avoparenting.com
BLW Recipes (blwrecipes.com) has its own privacy notice. That site has no accounts and collects nothing you type; what it does collect — analytics subject to a consent banner, and two values stored in your browser — is described at blwrecipes.com/en/privacy. The same data controller, Avo Parenting, is responsible for both.
2. How data is separated between the apps
This matters, so we state it plainly.
Avo Starting Solids and Avo Baby Tracker share a single backend. They are built on the same Google Firebase project, and your baby and family data — including baby profiles, feeding logs, and family sharing — is shared between these two apps. If you use both, they read and write the same records. This is deliberate: it is what lets you log a meal in one app and see it reflected in the other without entering it twice.
Avo Pregnancy runs on a completely separate backend. It uses its own, independent Firebase project. Data from Avo Pregnancy is not pooled with, or readable by, Avo Starting Solids or Avo Baby Tracker, and vice versa. Using one does not give the other access to your information.
Avo Studio runs on a third, separate backend of its own, and it has no account at all. It signs you in anonymously, so there is no email address, no password and nothing to log into — everything it stores hangs off a random identifier created on first launch. Nothing in Avo Studio is pooled with, or readable by, any other Avo app, and nothing from the other apps is readable by it. One practical consequence worth knowing: because there is no account, reinstalling Avo Studio or moving to a new device starts a new identifier, and photos created under the old one cannot be recovered.
One thing is shared, and it is not your records. Avo Pregnancy, Avo Starting Solids and Avo Studio all report advertising measurement events to Meta (section 3). Each sends the same device-level advertising identifier, so Meta — not we — is able to tell that these apps were installed on one device. Nothing from your pregnancy, baby, or feeding records, and none of your photos, is included in what Meta receives.
3. What we collect, and why
Data you provide
| Data | Apps | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account details (email, authentication identifiers) | All except Avo Studio | To sign you in and sync your data across devices |
| An anonymous device identifier, created on first launch | Avo Studio | Avo Studio has no accounts; this is what your photos and subscription are attached to |
| Baby and pregnancy profile (due date, birth date, name or nickname) | All | To personalise guidance to your stage |
| Food, meal, and feeding logs | All | The core function of the apps |
| Meal photos | Avo Pregnancy | Analysed to produce nutritional insights |
| Avo Agent chat messages and images | Avo Starting Solids | To answer your questions and provide personalised feeding insights |
| Photos of your child, yourself and other family members | Avo Studio | To create the AI photo you asked for, and to run the free look-alike comparison — see "Photos and faces" below |
| Feedback, feature requests and theme ideas, with an optional reply email address | Avo Studio | To read what you tell us and, if you left an address, to reply |
| Messages you send us through the website contact form | Website | To respond to your enquiry |
Data collected automatically
| Data | Apps | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Log and crash data — IP address, device name, OS version, app configuration, timestamps | All | Diagnosing errors and crashes |
| Usage and analytics events — screens viewed, features used | All | Understanding which features are useful and improving the apps |
| Subscription status and purchase identifiers | All | Managing entitlements and restoring purchases |
| Advertising identifier and campaign events — see below | Avo Pregnancy, Avo Starting Solids, Avo Studio | Measuring which of our ads lead to installs and subscriptions |
We do not collect precise location data, and we do not sell your personal information for money. The advertising measurement described next may count as "sharing", and possibly as a "sale", under some US state privacy laws — see section 9.
Photos and faces (Avo Studio)
Avo Studio is a photo app, so this section is the important one. There are two separate things it does with a photo, and they work differently.
1. Creating an AI photo — the picture leaves your device, and is not kept.
When you ask for a themed portrait, a Future Baby, or any other generated image, the photos you picked are sent to our server and passed to Google's Gemini model to produce the result. We never write your input photos to storage or to disk. They exist only in memory for the length of that one request and are gone when it finishes — there is no copy on our servers, and no human at Avo Parenting can look at them.
What is kept is the image the model produced, saved against your anonymous identifier so it appears in My Creations and you can come back to it. You can delete any creation from inside the app, and deleting it removes the stored image.
Before generating, the same photos are checked once by a Google text model to confirm there is a real face in the picture and that it is suitable for a family app. That check reads the same in-memory copy and stores nothing.
2. The look-alike comparison — the picture never leaves your device.
"Who Do I Look Like" measures facial features — the position and shape of eyes, nose, mouth and face outline — to score how much a child resembles each parent. This runs entirely on your own phone, using the face-analysis component built into the operating system (Apple Vision on iOS, Google ML Kit on Android). The photos and the measurements are never uploaded, never sent to us, and never sent to any third party. Nothing about your face reaches our servers, which is also why the feature is free and works offline.
The same on-device check runs when you pick any photo, to catch a picture with nobody in it before you waste a generation on it.
Facial measurements are sensitive. Under the GDPR, data about facial geometry can be special-category data (Article 9); some US states, including Illinois and Texas, regulate it specifically. We rely on your explicit consent, which is your act of choosing photos and asking for the comparison. Because the measurements are computed and discarded on your own device, we hold no biometric database, we never sell or otherwise disclose facial data, and there is nothing on our side to delete.
Photos of children. The photos you provide will usually be of your own baby or child. You provide them as the parent or guardian — see section 10.
Photos saved on your device. If you use a feature that works better with a photo of each parent, Avo Studio keeps those two photos in its own private storage on your phone so it does not have to ask again. They are not uploaded anywhere as part of being saved, and you can clear them in the app's settings.
Advertising and campaign measurement
Avo Pregnancy, Avo Starting Solids and Avo Studio include Meta's app-events SDK, so we can tell which of our Facebook and Instagram ads actually lead to an install or a subscription. Avo Baby Tracker does not include it, and neither does the website.
What Meta receives from those apps:
- your device's advertising identifier — the IDFA on iOS, the Advertising ID on Android;
- the anonymous account identifier the app already uses in place of a login. It is a random string that means nothing outside our apps and is never tied to your name, but Meta uses it to recognise the same person across devices, so we list it here rather than leave it implied;
- app events: opening the app, finishing onboarding, viewing content, starting checkout, and starting a trial or subscribing, with the price and currency of the purchase. From Avo Studio the list also includes finishing a photo, and the name of the theme or tool that was opened or used.
What Meta does not receive: your due date, your baby's details, your food, meal or feeding logs, your meal photos, your chat messages, any photo you put into Avo Studio, any photo it creates, or any facial measurement, or anything else you enter in the apps.
Meta uses these events both to report our campaign results back to us and, under its own Business Tools terms, for its own purposes including ad delivery — so for this processing it acts on its own account, not merely as our processor.
How to stop it.
- iOS — the apps ask for permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. Decline it and no advertising identifier is shared. You can change your mind at any time under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Android — delete your advertising ID under Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID, which stops apps receiving one at all.
Declining changes nothing about how the apps work: every feature stays available, and measurement falls back to aggregate reporting that does not identify your device.
Health data
Some of what you enter — pregnancy stage, dietary logs, your baby's feeding patterns — may qualify as health data, which receives special protection under the GDPR (Article 9). We process it only to provide the features you have asked for, on the basis of your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time by deleting the relevant data or your account.
4. Legal bases for processing (GDPR Article 6)
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Providing the apps and their core features | Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Processing health-related entries you make | Explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a)) |
| Crash reporting and security | Legitimate interests — keeping the service working and secure (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Website analytics | Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — asked for up front, and nothing is collected until it is given |
| Advertising measurement in Avo Pregnancy, Avo Starting Solids and Avo Studio | Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) where required — on iOS this is Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, which you can decline or withdraw at any time |
| Creating an AI photo from photos you choose | Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — it is the feature you asked for |
| Measuring facial features for the look-alike comparison, on your device | Explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a)) — given by choosing the photos and asking for the comparison, and withdrawn by not using the feature |
| In-app analytics | Consent where required by local law, otherwise legitimate interests |
| Processing payments and subscriptions | Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Responding to your enquiries | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Meeting legal and tax obligations | Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) |
5. Service providers
We use the following processors and third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy.
| Provider | Purpose | Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, Storage) | Hosting your account and app data | https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| Google Analytics for Firebase | Usage analytics | https://firebase.google.com/policies/analytics |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash reporting | https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| Google Cloud Vertex AI | AI meal analysis and Avo Agent responses | https://cloud.google.com/terms/cloud-privacy-notice |
| Google Gemini API | Generating photos in Avo Studio, and the safety check that runs first | https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms |
| Google Play Services | Android platform services | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management — all apps except Avo Studio | https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy |
| Adapty | Subscription management — Avo Studio only | https://adapty.io/privacy |
| Apple App Store / Google Play | Payment processing | Apple's and Google's respective policies |
| Meta Platforms (Facebook, Instagram) | Measuring installs and subscriptions from our ads — Avo Pregnancy, Avo Starting Solids and Avo Studio only | https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy |
Face analysis in Avo Studio is deliberately absent from this table: it uses the component already built into your phone's operating system, so no provider receives anything.
These providers may access your data only to perform the tasks we assign them, and are contractually obliged not to use it for any other purpose. Meta is the exception: as described in section 3, it also uses the events it receives for its own purposes, so it is not acting solely on our instructions.
6. Artificial intelligence and your content
- Your inputs are not used to train public AI models. Meal photos, chat messages, and images you submit are processed by Google to generate a response for you, and remain isolated to your own account.
- In Avo Studio, input photos are not stored at all. They are held in memory for the one request that uses them and then discarded; only the image the model produced is saved. See "Photos and faces" in section 3.
- AI images are AI images. A generated portrait, a Future Baby, or an aged-up photo is an invention of a model, not a photograph of, or a prediction about, a real person. Please do not treat one as evidence of how anybody looks, is related, or will look.
- Chat history is stored. In Avo Starting Solids, Avo Agent conversations (messages, images, and tool-usage logs) are retained so you can review past conversations and so the app can offer personalised insights. This data is linked to your account and stored on Firebase.
- You stay in control. You can delete your chat history, or request deletion of your account and all associated data, at any time.
7. How long we keep data
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Account and app data (profiles, logs, photos, chat history) | Until you delete it, or until you delete your account |
| Photos you put into Avo Studio to be generated from | Not retained — held in memory for the request only |
| Photos Avo Studio created for you | Until you delete them in the app |
| Facial measurements from the look-alike comparison | Not retained by us — computed on your device and discarded there |
| Handled-error diagnostics (what failed, on which theme or feature — never a photo) | 30 days, then deleted automatically |
| Deleted account data | Removed from live systems within 30 days; backups purge within a further 90 days |
| Crash and diagnostic logs | Up to 90 days |
| Analytics events | Up to 14 months |
| Advertising measurement events sent to Meta | Kept by Meta under its own policy; we keep no copy, only aggregate campaign reports |
| Contact form messages | Up to 24 months after your enquiry is resolved |
| Purchase and tax records | As long as tax and accounting law requires (typically 10 years in Türkiye) |
8. International transfers
We are based in Türkiye and our providers (principally Google and Meta) operate globally, so your data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Where data is transferred out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our providers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an applicable adequacy decision to protect it. You can request details of the safeguards in place by emailing us.
9. Your rights
If you are in the EEA or the UK (GDPR / UK GDPR)
You have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- rectify data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- erase your data ("right to be forgotten");
- restrict processing in certain circumstances;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out;
- lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In Türkiye, this is the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK).
If you are in California (CCPA / CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information is collected, used, and disclosed; to request deletion; to request correction; to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information; and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do, however, share an advertising identifier and app events with Meta so we can measure our own advertising (section 3). That is "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising under the CPRA, and on its broad definition it may also count as a "sale". It applies to Avo Pregnancy, Avo Starting Solids and Avo Studio only.
We do not sell or share biometric information. The facial measurements described in section 3 never leave your device, so they are not disclosed to anyone, for advertising or otherwise.
To opt out, use the device controls in section 3 — declining the iOS tracking prompt, or deleting your Android advertising ID — or email support@avoparenting.com and we will action it. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
How to exercise your rights
Email support@avoparenting.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity — normally by asking you to write from the email address registered to your account.
Most deletion can also be done directly in the app: delete individual entries, or use the account deletion option to remove everything.
10. Children's privacy
The apps are intended for parents and expectant parents, and are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we discover that we have, we delete it promptly.
Information you record about your baby or child — feeding logs, birth date, name or nickname, and in Avo Studio the photos you choose and the images created from them — is data you provide as the parent or guardian, and you control it. You can delete it at any time.
Please only upload photos of a child you are the parent or guardian of, or for whom you have the guardian's permission.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided us with personal data directly, contact us at support@avoparenting.com.
11. Cookies and similar technologies
The apps do not use cookies directly, though third-party libraries they include may do so. Avo Pregnancy, Avo Starting Solids and Avo Studio do use your device's advertising identifier, which is the mobile equivalent — what it is used for, and how to switch it off, is in section 3.
avoparenting.com asks before it stores anything. The first time you visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Until you accept, the site sets no analytics cookies and makes no request to Google — declining is a single click, and refusing leaves the site fully usable. If you accept, Google Analytics sets the following:
| Cookie | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
_ga |
Distinguishes one browser from another so visits can be counted | 13 months |
_ga_<id> |
Keeps the current session together | 13 months |
We use these to count page views and understand which content is useful. You can withdraw consent at any time from Cookie settings in the site footer, which removes the stored choice and asks again.
Two values unrelated to analytics are kept in your browser's local storage: your choice about this banner, so we do not ask again on every page, and — if you dismiss the prompt inviting you to download the app — the fact that you dismissed it, so it stays dismissed. Neither identifies you, neither is sent to us or to anyone else, and both are written only in response to something you did.
Our other website, blwrecipes.com, works the same way: an analytics cookie set only after you accept its own consent banner. Neither site runs advertising cookies. See that site's own notice at blwrecipes.com/en/privacy for the detail.
12. Security
We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, authentication controls, and access restrictions on our backend. However, no method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Links to other sites
The apps and website may link to sites we do not operate. We have no control over their content or privacy practices, and we recommend reviewing their policies before providing them with any information.
14. Medical disclaimer
The Avo apps do not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. All content, food safety ratings, and AI-generated insights are for informational and educational purposes only, and using the apps does not create a patient–client relationship. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional about your own circumstances and your child's. Never disregard professional medical advice because of something you read in an Avo app.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we publish the new version at https://avoparenting.com/legal/privacy with a new effective date, and the previous version stays available under "Previous versions" on that page. For significant changes we will make reasonable efforts to notify you in the apps.
